Tune in Thursday, February 4th, at 7:00pm to @dirty5ive’s Instagram Live — we’ll be having the man himself live on #D5LIVE for an interview and performance hosted by JAKX. *Update 02/08/21 — After numerous attempts to get the infamously glitchy and laggy instagram live feature to work, Choco and I recorded almost an hour of an interview which only a dozen ears and eyes were blessed with. I took this as a lesson and gained a little more patience in the process while learning that there is never a victory without a battle. By this time I had drank four Jai Alai IPAs (please sponsor me, lol), I had already ran through my list of questions, and was in the process of smoking a super fire joint, so you can imagine by this time I was, well… just watch.

When Choco called me with the news that he had a dope new record, Space for Greatness, that needed visuals, I already knew we were going to make magic. Aside from various photo shoots, I had the pleasure of working with him previously on the Mumble Massacre music video where we transformed a heavily forested area of Amelia Earhart Park into a Leatherface murder scene.

This song, however, did not feature his masked alter-ego, just his god-given face. I decided to run with the idea of embedding small clips from the Quentin Tarantino-directed movie, Pulp Fiction, since the song already started with a skit from the film. I went for a grainy/vintage look editing-wise to feel like an old school film and to match with Tarantino’s scenes a bit. As fate would have it, while we were walking back to the car from shooting at one location, we stumbled upon a private residence with an amazing mural from the movie across the front façade. After being mind blown at the sheer coincidence, without a second thought, we rushed through the gate to start filming. Right after recording the last shot, a lady that lived there kicked us out and my camera died — it was meant to be.
